Delicious Dal Paratha from left-over Dal
Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups wheat flour
- ¾ cup leftover dal
- ¼ cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chilli, finely chopped
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ¼ tsp red chilli powder
- ¼ tsp garam masala
- ¼ tsp ajwain
- 1 tbsp oil + 1 tbsp for coating dough
Method:
- In a large bowl or the stand mixer bowl combine all the ingredients.
- Knead into a soft pliable dough. You may need little to no water depending on your dal consistency.
- Smear a little oil on the dough and knead again. Cover the dough with a lid or plastic wrap & let it rest for about 10-15 mins.
- Divide the dough into small pieces; roll each piece into a smooth ball and keep aside.
- Dust a rolling board and rolling pin with flour and roll out each portion into a Six-inch roti. Spread a few drops of ghee and fold the roti in half, then spread a little more ghee and fold it into a quarter.
- Roll out into a triangle and flip onto the hot tawa.
- Cook on both sides for 1–2 minutes and drizzle ½ tsp of oil or ghee. Fry until golden brown on both sides and slightly crisp.
- Serve hot with yogurt, raita, chutney or pickle.
